“If we did not learn self-love in our youth, there is still hope. The light of love is always in us, no matter how cold the flame”
— bell hooks, All About Love: New Visions
My Approach
I aim to help people feel more connected to and able to embody their truest selves. I encourage my clients to explore how the past has shaped them, while focusing on how to become more grounded, understanding, and accepting of themselves in the present. Warmth, gentle curiosity, honesty, creativity, and collaboration are the foundation of my therapeutic style. I see each session as a co-created process unique to each client, with an overall goal of helping you sustain a life of purpose, healing, connection, and joy.
Therapy is a space where you can share your story and struggles with another being and expect to be met with empathy, curiosity, care, and presence. It is a relationship we build together. I will listen deeply, share with you what I think I understand, collaborate with you in your goals, witness your process, and offer guidance, direction, and skills that I think will facilitate further growth and healing. Ultimately, I hope that therapy leaves you with a greater sense of possibility in your life and freedom to choose paths that serve you.
Types of Therapy Offered
I draw from various theoretical approaches, including Attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness practices, trauma research, developmental and neurocognitive research, and somatic practices. I work through a social justice lens and support clients as they explore the impacts of systemic and interpersonal oppression, minority stress, and/or systemic privilege on identity, world-view, and well-being.
I have received training in:
DBT Skills (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) - DBT is an evidence-based treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, emotional disregulation, self-harming or suicidal adolescents, Major Depression (including treatment-resistant depression), and PTSD for childhood sexual abuse. DBT skills are very concrete and come in the form of handouts and often, practicing new skills as homework. DBT skills can feel very grounding and supportive when you struggle with overwhelming emotions. I only utilize DBT skills in session and do not do between-session coaching or group work.
EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) - EMDR is a well-researched and effective method to help people recover from trauma, including single incident trauma and complex trauma.
MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) - MBCT combines aspects of cognitive therapy and meditation/mindfulness practices, and is designed for people struggling with chronic depression and unhappiness.
I am affirming of all sexual and gender identities and am myself both queer and non-binary. I have experience working with people in various forms of non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships, and am kink/BDSM informed.
I work with adolescents 13+ and adults of any age. While I primarily work with individuals, I also enjoy working with couples.
I look forward to meeting YOU!
